Happy September!!!

Dear Parents and Students,

Our first theory classes will begin this Saturday, September 15!  Please see the attached schedule for September 15th and 29th.
The first few classes will be loosely structured and will include 1-2 levels at a time. We will learn and review concepts related to the Florida State Music Teachers Student Day Examinations and play games to reinforce those concepts. As we get closer to Student Day, the classes will change to Level specific classes and be more focused on individual skills in order to meet the Student Day requirements for the examinations on November 17th. (Translation: More work, less fun!) Sometime after Student Day, we will have a wrap up class with games, ice cream sundaes and review, to help them forget the "not so fun" parts :-).
Students do not need to bring anything to the classes, except for a great attitude and willingness to participate. I will expect the students to conduct themselves politely and not to be disruptive in a way that detracts from everyone being able to learn. If that is the case, the student will be excused from class and will miss the next class before being able to return.
The Primary-Level 1 class is for beginners.
We will discuss which class would be appropriate for each student at their lesson this week. Students who are already familiar with Student Day and who know their level, will know when to come. Students who are working through levels in an attempt to move ahead, may attend both levels of classes if they would like.
Please remember that there is no extra fee for attending these classes. They are a bonus lesson and students are not required to attend. Students who intend to take the examinations in November should be completing their assigned theory work each week at home. These classes are for help and review.
They are intended as an added assist and are not meant to cause extra stress to your family schedules :-) !!!
I do ask that you let me know at the lesson if you will be attending so that I know how many students to be preparing for.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Purchase
